Vacuum Insulated Bottle MJX-B048
To be released on October 1, 2023
Tiger Corporation (President: Yoshisato Kikuchi, Headquarters: Kadoma City, Osaka) (“Tiger” or “we”), a world leader in thermal control technology, will release the Vacuum Insulated Bottles MJX-B048 on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
Since its release in 2017, the MJX series of vacuum-insulated bottles with a three-dimensionally patterned and textured surface, enabled by Tiger’s proprietary painting technique, have been well received by not only customers in Japan but also those overseas, especially inbound tourists to Japan, as bottles that present traditional Japanese beauty to the world.
The vacuum-insulated bottles with three new patterns to be released are a collaboration by the long-established Kamedatomi Co., Ltd. (Pagong)* founded as a hand-printing factory for Kyo-Yuzen in the Taisho period (1912–1926) and Tiger Corporation. The colorful and elegant Kyo-Yuzen patterns modified in a modern style have been reproduced on the bottles.
The ban on group tours from China to Japan has been lifted for the first time in about three and a half years and expectations are rising for a further increase in inbound tourism. Therefore, we will spread the beauty of traditional Japanese crafts around the world by applying the traditional beauty to vacuum-insulated bottles, an everyday item.

The kimono patterns of Kyo-Yuzen, modified in a modern style
The long-established Kamedatomi Co., Ltd. (Pagong) founded as a hand-printing factory for Kyo-Yuzen in the Taisho period and Tiger Corporation collaborated in reproducing three types of colorful and detailed patterns on vacuum-insulated bottles.

What is Kyo-Yuzen?
Kyo-Yuzen, one of the traditional crafts in Kyoto, is a dyeing technique characterized by colorful and elegant patterns.
Tiger in Bamboo Grove “YT”
The tiger and bamboo motif was commonly used in boys’ kimonos from the Taisho period (1912 to 1926) to the Showa period (1926 to 1989). The design depicts a family of tigers including a father calmly staring at you, a mother tiger, and a spoiled child tiger biting the mother’s back.
Japanese Crane “RT”
This motif called unkan no tsuru (cranes between the clouds) depicts cranes flying through the clouds. The crane symbolizes longevity and is considered an auspicious design.
Big Wave “AO”
This design was created based on the invigoratingly dynamic waves drawn by Hokusai Katsushika, a genius artist in the Edo period (1603 to 1868).
Graceful and elegant paulownia box perfect for a gift is adopted
Paulownia wood is lightweight and moisture-proof and is considered a graceful and elegant wood because of its beautiful grain. The paulownia wood box specifically designed for the bottle is carefully made by skilled craftsmen who specialize in making wood boxes for storing traditional craftworks such as teacups and paintings.
Each bottle is carefully stored in such a box to deliver the skills and spirit of tradition to the user.
The three-dimensional surface finish that matches the designs
Proprietary technique of layering to reproduce traditional Japanese beauty
The most notable feature of the MJX-B048 series is the three-dimensional surface finish that matches the designs.
Colors and fine patterns are layered carefully to reproduce the three-dimensional feel and texture of a motif.
The method of adjusting the way of layering patterns for each design to obtain a texture close to the original texture of the motif, ranging from craft such as gold leaf to an appearance of a kimono woven from dyed threads, is the true value of our proprietary technique.
