Steamless electric kettle “QUICK&SAFE+” PCV-A
won the “Kids Design Council Chairman’s Award” at the 18th Kids Design Awards!
Highly praised for its ongoing development approach to balance “convenience of boiling water quickly” with “prevention of accidents”
Tiger Corporation (President and CEO: Yoshiaki Kikuchi, Headquarters: Kadoma City, Osaka Prefecture), a world leader in thermal control technology, released the Steamless Electric Kettle “QUICK&SAFE+” PCV-A Type in September 2024, which won the Kids Design Council Chairman’s Award (Award Category: Design that Contributes to Children’s Safety and Security) at the 18th Kids Design Awards.
Title of the winning work | Steamless electric kettle PCV type with spill-proof structure |
Award Name | Encouragement Award: Kids Design Council Chairman’s Award |
Department | Design category that contributes to children’s safety and security |
Reasons for the award (Judges’ comments) | The product has a water-tipping prevention structure to prevent accidents where hot water leaks out if the product falls over and causes burns to infants. In addition, thorough consideration has been given to safety by preventing the steam itself from escaping. The company highly praised the company’s ongoing development approach to balancing the convenience of boiling water in a short time with the prevention of accidents. |
Since the launch of our electric kettles in 2008, all of our products have been equipped with a “spill prevention feature”*1, and we have developed safety design as our top priority. This approach has been recognized, and many of our products have won the Kids Design Award. The PCV-A model, which received the Kids Design Council Chairman’s Award this time, is not only “spill prevention”*1, but also features a “steamless” feature*2 that prevents steam from escaping from the body. In addition, it has a “speed boil” feature that boils one cup (about 140 ml) in about 57 seconds*3.
Tiger Corporation’s electric kettles will continue to be based on safety design, while also pursuing speed boiling and ease of use, so that they can be used safely even in homes with children, and will support “happy family time.”
*1 Hot water may flow from the spout and cause burns if the main unit is tilted or tipped over, even when the dispense lock button is pressed.
*2 Steam may be emitted from the spout if water is boiled when the main body is warm, such as when boiling water multiple times in succession.
*3 At water/room temperature of 23°C The boiling time until activation of the auto shut off system was tested for a single-cup serving of approximately 140 mL at rated power consumption (based on our own measurement method).

[Feature 1] “Steamless” – no steam is released outside the unit*1
Tiger’s unique technology*2 “speed steam detection” and “steam catcher structure” prevent steam from escaping the unit, reducing the risk of burns caused by steam.
Speedy steam detection
Quickly catches the beginning of steam release, so no extra steam is generated.
Steam catcher structure
Equipped with a “steam catcher” inside the lid. Steam is cooled by passing through the cooling passage inside the steam catcher, and turns into droplets that come out of the spout when pouring.
[Feature 2] “Tipping over prevention” to reduce the risk of burns *3
Even if the pot falls over, it keeps hot water leakage to a minimum.
[Feature 3] “Speedy boiling”: Approximately 57 seconds for one cup*4
Tiger’s proprietary technology guides steam to the steam detection sensor in the handle via the shortest possible route. It quickly detects steam and turns off the power as soon as it boils, achieving speedy boiling.
