A VERSATILE SAUCE
Similar to pesto but thinner in texture, basil sauce is a condiment that’s very easy to make and that’s also versatile. Only 7 easy-to-find ingredients are needed and the result is a sauce that pairs well with just about anything! It can be used as the main flavor of a dish, as an addition to elevate the overall taste of a dish, as a dipping sauce, as a spread, or as a base for soups.
The taste of the sauce can also easily be tweaked to be sweeter, spicy, tart, or peppery, and so much more (look at tips and variations for some ideas on how to).
HOW TO MAKE THIS BASIL SAUCE
Put the pine nuts, parmesan cheese, anchovy filets, garlic, olive oil, and salt in the blender and move the blender dial to 4 or 5. Close firmly with the lid and blend until the mixture has emulsified. Finish by adding the basil and blending for about 30 seconds, or until desired consistency.
