THE EASIEST STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM
We’ve got an exciting hack for making strawberry ice cream at home that is way easier than old school churning. And way more homemade than using a prohibitively expensive ice cream machine. We’ll cut right to the chase; we’re using frozen strawberries to provide a cold, sweet and tart base that turns a bit of milk into instant ice cream when blended. And the secret ingredient that imparts creaminess and in-your-face sweetness is just a bit of sweetened condensed milk. It’s a 3-ingredient ice cream recipe tailor made for that last minute get together with friends – or an impromptu late night treat in front of the TV.
MAKING ICE CREAM IN A BLENDER
Now, this isn’t the first time we’re making ice cream in a blender. But in the case of our chocolate banana gelato – and this peach sorbet – most blender ice cream recipes blend the ice cream base and then require a few hours in the freezer firming up. This frozen strawberry ice cream, by contrast, is ready to eat pretty much instantly!
HOW TO MAKE ICE CREAM WITH FROZEN STRAWBERRIES
Just load all three ingredients into the jar of your Tiger blender and pulse 10 times. Then blend for a minute with the speed dial set to about 4. Believe it or not, your work is done! Grab the spoons and tuck in.
TIPS AND RECIPE VARIATIONS
Mix in your favorite frozen fruit. While we think this works best with frozen strawberries, any frozen fruit works. Whether you use blueberries or mango chunks just make sure to follow the ratio of frozen-fruit-to-liquid-ingredients from the recipe card on this page (above) and you’ll be good to go.
Eat it or freeze it. While you can eat this ice cream as soon as it’s blended, you can also freeze it for later. We’ve found that a covered glass or metal freezer container works best.
Take it to go. If you’re wondering how – just toss your ice cream in a vacuum insulated travel mug and head to the picnic. But this is important, be sure to use a rubber spatula or a bamboo spoon to scoop it out so you don’t scratch the interior of your favorite travel mug with a metal spoon.
