A DELICIOUS WORKOUT RECOVERY DRINK

You did the hard part already. You spent an hour at the gym – or you got up at the crack of way-too-early and hopped on the stationary bike when it would have been so much easier to hit the snooze button and pull the covers over your head. Congratulations! Now, let’s refuel. This mango smoothie has a tropical flavor that works so well with the light nutty flavors from almond milk. It’s tasty enough to gulp down on its own. But when you add your favorite protein powder, it becomes a supercharged behemoth of goodness that helps your body replenish itself.

IS THIS SMOOTHIE VEGAN?

This mango and almond milk smoothie recipe is 100% vegan as written. However, your protein powder may not be. For example whey protein is derived from milk. But there are lots of vegan protein powders out there these days. Many are derived from seeds, legumes and grains like brown rice. Pea protein makes a fantastic plant based protein powder too!

HOW TO MAKE A PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

Place your frozen mango, ice, protein powder and almond milk into the jar of your Tiger blender – and set the speed level to 10. It’s ready in just 90 seconds.

TIPS AND RECIPE VARIATIONS

  • Add your favorite powdered supplements. Just like a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, the sweetness of frozen mango can mask the harsh taste of certain workout supplements. Sick of holding your nose while gulping down something that is good for you? Add it to your smoothie and enjoy it for once!
  • Mix in a few berries for added antioxidants. A small handful of blueberries gives your body even more of what it needs to perform at peak levels in one tasty frozen smoothie.
  • Use your favorite milk. While we love almond milk, whatever you have handy in the fridge works for this fruity protein shake. From traditional dairy to oatmilk (and all stops in between).
