CHOOSING THE RIGHT MATCHA POWDER

For health: If you are drinking this green tea slushie for health, we recommend using ceremonial grade matcha powder, which is the highest grade of matcha powder. Not only does it look more vibrant and taste better, it’s also higher in L-theanine (mental focus and calmness), antioxidants, and catechin, which helps to keep viruses at bay. It’s worth noting that ceremonial grade matcha powder is significantly more expensive than other types of matcha powders.

For the taste: If you are drinking this green tea slushie simply for pleasure, we recommend using culinary grade matcha (which is still excellent for you!), which is the lowest grade of matcha powders. Culinary grade is less expensive and is often used in drinks where the taste of matcha is diluted with other ingredients such as sugar and milk.

HOW TO MAKE OUR GREEN TEA SLUSHIE

  1. Place the matcha powder and granulated sugar in a bowl and add a little hot water. Stir until the powder dissolves and add the remaining water. We recommend using a whisk as it does a great job of breaking down clumps.
  2. Add the ice cubes to the Tiger blender along with the green tea (and sugar mixture if you are adding sugar to the recipe). Put the lid on the blender and twist the dial to 4 or 5. Blend for about 2 minutes, until the texture is like slush.
  3. Transfer the slush to a cup and enjoy!

TIPS AND VARIATIONS

Make it creamy: Use warm milk or non-dairy alternative instead of hot water.

STORAGE

This slushie can be kept in the freezer, stored in an airtight container. The texture will turn to ice if left for too long, so we suggest saving the slushie in ice trays. This way the cubes can be put back in the blender again later to make a fresh slushie!
