Breakfast Peanut Butter & Maple Coffee

  • Beverages

Maple infused peanut butter coffee: is it a morning boost to set you up for a great day – or is it a nutty caffeinated sweet treat? We’d say it’s both.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup strong brewed coffee
  • ¼ cup milk or dairy alternative such as oat milk or soy milk
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 2 tsp pure maple syrup
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon powder

Directions

  • Put the coffee and milk in a cup and microwave for 60 to 90 seconds, until hot.
  • Put the peanut butter and maple syrup in a mug and mix with a spoon.
  • Slowly pour the coffee and milk in the mug while stirring constantly. This is to ensure that the peanut butter is melting and mixing with the drink.
  • Sprinkle a little cinnamon powder on top and serve hot.

A BLENDED COFFEE DRINK THAT PULLS DOUBLE DUTY

Whether preparing for an important meeting – or enjoying a lazy Sunday morning at home – a pot of coffee sets the tone for the day ahead. But a nutty and naturally sweet cup of coffee that incorporates protein and healthy fats into the mix is next level alchemy. For this brew, we mix creamy peanut butter and pure maple syrup into hot coffee with milk for a velvety, rich smoothness and unbeatable nuttiness. And, whether as a pre-workout boost of energy or a treat to mark a job well done, this pb & maple coffee really delivers.

HOW TO MAKE MAPLE AND PEANUT BUTTER COFFEE

Heat the coffee and milk to piping hot (see the recipe card above for our timing suggestions). Then slowly stir that into the peanut butter and maple syrup mixture in a coffee mug until fully dissolved. That’s it! We like a sprinkle of cinnamon on top just before serving.

EXPERT TIPS AND VARIATIONS

  • Use smooth peanut butter. While we love chunky peanut butter, chunky coffee doesn’t have quite the same appeal. Smooth peanut butter provides a luxurious texture and will fully integrate into the coffee.
  • Be sure the coffee and milk are hot. This ensures that the peanut butter and maple syrup mixture is fully incorporated with the drink. If it’s cold or too close to room temperature, the peanut butter won’t mix.
  • Make it plant based. Simply substitute the traditional dairy in favor of vegan options like almond milk, rice milk, macadamia milk or oat milk.
  • Take it to go. Toss your morning brew in an insulated travel mug and take it to the gym or office. It’ll stay hot – and be ready when you are.
  • Try different nut butters. This works with things like almond butter and cashew butter (but we’d always recommend smooth, not chunky).
